Oracle Applications were first released in 1987 and have been developed to increase functionality.  In addition over the past few years Oracle has acquired several other software companies to add to the scope of our applications capability, of particular note are Peoplesoft, JDEdwards, Retek and Siebel which are all now part of Oracle.

Oracle has world leading technology in database and middleware which is of particular relevance to meeting the National Lottery bid requirements as stated on page 17 of the Statement of Main Principles published Nov 2005 – “ We recognise the value of systems that conform to modern design principles, including use of appropriate open and industry standards, in order to provide flexibility in interfacing to sales channel partners, suppliers, ourselves and other third parties”

Elements of Oracle technology capability that will help the bidder deliver a compelling bid are, management of large volumes of data, data security, internet access, identity management, mobile access and Service Orientated Architecture for connectivity to other organisations’ IT systems.
