Due to the impact Covid-19 is having on operations across the UK we have had to reduce our phoneline opening hours.

Our phonelines are open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10 am and 4 pm.

The contact us service is also available for answers to common questions and we will aim to respond to these enquiries as quickly as possible.

If you have a question about your gambling, or the gambling of someone close to you, our FAQs from gambling consumers during lockdown may provide valuable information. Our what we do page also provides an overview of the types of queries we are able to help consumers with in the first instance.

The National Gambling Helpline is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through GamCare. It is there to support those suffering from gambling problems or those concerned about the affect gambling is having on people close to them. You can call them free on 0808 8020 133, or visit gamcare.org.uk.

If you are a gambling operator please read our Frequently Asked Questions for gambling businesses.

National Lottery statistics – returns to good causes

Part of our regulatory remit for the National Lottery is to ensure that returns to good causes are maximised.

The money generated by the National Lottery funds arts, heritage, sport, community and voluntary projects all over the UK as well as supporting projects concerned with health, education and the environment. So far over 500,000 projects large and small have benefited from Lottery funding.

Payments to good causes are made to the National Lottery Distribution Fund (NLDF) on behalf of the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, who oversees the fund. We make sure that the payments to the Secretary of State are accurate and on time.

We compile a quarterly report detailing the level of funds that have been transferred to the NLDF. Reports for the last three years are listed below, for older data you can contact us

You can find out more about where lottery money goes from the National Lottery Promotions Unit

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has a searchable database of every lottery grant that has been made since the lottery began in 1994.
