Response to the Draft Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions Bill
The National Lottery is a unique institution and the Government has established that it is distinct from other gambling products. The Commission regulates a single commercial operator of significant scale. With the unique status of the Lottery, there are few direct regulatory comparisons between the Commission and other regulatory bodies.
Although the provisions of the draft Bill will not extend to the National Lottery, the National Lottery Commission will continue to seek to adopt the principles of better regulation, including appropriate enforcement arrangements backed by a range of sanctions, and embed them firmly in its own regulatory approach.
