Strapline error

Condition Breached

Condition 10 of the Section 5 Licence

Description

A player purchased a ticket on 24 October 2002 that stated that the jackpot was a double rollover with an estimated £15 million jackpot when the estimated jackpot for the following draw was in fact £3.3 million.

Background

Camelot put an incorrect ticket message onto its system. The system enables Camelot to put messages, such as the estimated size of jackpot, onto the tickets. The incorrect message was withdrawn as soon as Camelot realised its mistake.

Regulatory Action

The Commission investigated the issue and contacted Camelot who accepted the breach. A licence breach was recorded on 20 March 2003.

Outcome

Camelot is putting in place a system of control that will alert the Technical Support team should an operator attempt to put a message onto the system without following normal procedures.
