Availability of Player Guide

Condition breached

Condition 9(6) of the Section 5 Licence

Description

National Lottery Commission retailer visits in August and September found that of 128 retailers visited only 51 had Player Guide leaflets available for players.

Background

Condition 9(6) of the Section 5 Licence requires that copies of the current Player Guide can be obtained without charge from every retailer. The Player Guide provides players with useful non-contractual information regarding National Lottery games.

Regulatory Action

The Commission wrote to Camelot regarding the findings of the retailer visits.  On 7 January the Commission recorded a licence breach.

Outcome

Camelot is undertaking a variety of activities to improve the availability of the Player Guide.  The impact of these will be tested in future National Lottery Commission retailer visits.
