Launch of Daily Play

Condition breached

Condition 12 of the Daily Play Section 6 Licence

Description

Camelot issued a news release announcing the launch of Daily Play before the National Lottery Commission had approved the launch date.

Background

A new National Lottery game may not be promoted until Camelot has established, to the Commission’s satisfaction, that all launch conditions have been met and the Commission has approved the launch date proposed by Camelot.

Regulatory Action

The Commission investigated the issue and wrote to Camelot. The Commission did not accept the case Camelot put against recording a breach and recorded one on 18 February.

Outcome

The Chief Executive of the Commission met with Camelot’s PR team to clarify Camelot’s responsibilities when releasing information on new games.
