Sale of Scratchcards

Condition breached

Conditions 9 and 10 of Schedule 2 of Game 174 ‘Buried Treasure’ Section 6 Licence

Description

Scratchcard tickets for ‘Buried Treasure’ were distributed by Camelot to a retailer. As a result 35 tickets were sold prior to launch approval.

Background

Independent reports are obtained on tickets for all Scratchcard games. The Commission considers the reports for all games not covered by the class licence for Scratchcards before giving launch approval. Camelot reported this incident to the Commission.

Regulatory Action

The Commission investigated the issue and wrote to Camelot. Camelot accepted the breaches and they were recorded on 1 July 2003.

Outcome

This incident did not affect players or the integrity of the National Lottery. If any prizes had been won on the tickets sold they would have been honoured. Controls have been tightened to ensure that tickets do not leave the warehouse prior to launch approval.
