Secure Areas Access

Condition breached

Condition 6 (4)(b) of the Section 5 Licence

Description

A Camelot employee accessed a secure area within the Watford Data Centre without the necessary supervision prior to the Commission giving him fit and proper clearance.

Background

Condition 6(4)(b) requires that Camelot ensures that no person enters or leaves a secure area unless their name is on the Secure Area Register for the secure area in question or is supervised by such a person. Anyone wishing to enter a secure area within Camelot must complete an access control form and gain sign off before access can be granted. In this case this did not happen.

Regulatory Action

The Commission investigated the issue and were satisfied that no inappropriate conduct arose on this occasion. The Commission wrote to Camelot who accepted that the Licence had been breached and a breach was recorded on 10 November.

Outcome

Camelot reviewed its procedures on issuing proximity cards for secure area access. Changes have been implemented.
