Ensuring a fair Lottery for the nation
£28 billion for good causes
£40 billion in prizes

Lost and stolen ticket payment

Background
Under the provisions of Camelot’s contractual agreement with the courier responsible for delivering Scratchcards to retailers, the courier is required to pay compensation of £100 for each lost scratchcard parcel, where Camelot can prove that the parcel was lost while in the courier’s possession.
Camelot is required to transfer these compensation payments, minus the costs it has incurred in investigating the loss, to the Good Causes every quarter.

Condition
Schedule 2, Part 2, Condition 13(2) of various Scratchcard licences granted under Section 6 of the National Lottery etc Act 1993 (as amended).

Description
A National Lottery Commission Compliance review found that Camelot had underpaid the Good Causes by £5,218.63 in relation to courier charges for various Scratchcard games.  On being made aware of the underpayment, Camelot transferred the sum due to the Good Causes.

Regulatory Action
The Commission investigated the issue and wrote to Camelot. Camelot accepted the breach and it was recorded on 12 April 2005.

Outcome
Camelot has improved its procedure to avoid a repetition of this incident.
