Regulatory Imperatives
The purpose of regulatory imperatives is to set down the Commission’s key objectives, both high-level and specific, in its regulation of the operator’s day-to-day activities. While the imperatives do not have legal status, nearly all are reflected in part of the legal structure – the National Lottery etc. Act 1993 (as amended), licences, strategies and codes, and game rules. The imperatives are usually expressed in terms of outcomes and will inform the Commission’s interpretation of the relevant provisions.
